Iron Deficiency Anemia Secondary to Inadequate Dietary Iron Intake

What Is Iron Deficiency Anemia Secondary to Inadequate Dietary Iron Intake? People with anemia have a lower-than-normal level of red blood cells (RBCs) in their blood. It can cause headaches, weakness, fatigue, and many other symptoms. It can also lead to long-term health problems if not treated. Without enough iron, your body will make fewer RBCs or will produce smaller RBCs than normal. This leads to iron deficiency anemia secondary to inadequate dietary iron intake. In other words, the anemia is caused by not getting enough iron from the foods you eat. There are many causes of anemia, but iron deficiency is the most common. According to the  World Health Organization (WHO) , iron deficiency is the top nutritional disorder in the world. Research suggests that as many as 80 percent of people in the world don’t have enough iron in their bodies. It also suggests that as many as 30 percent of people have anemia due to prolonged iron deficiency. Symptoms of Iron...

before going deeper about the anemia & it's complication, here is the little recap about the actual function about the normal red blood cell. Red blood cells, also called erythrocytes, are the most abundant cell type in the blood. Other major  blood components  include plasma, white blood cells, and  platelets . The primary function of red blood cells is to transport oxygen to  body cells  and deliver carbon dioxide to the  lungs . A red blood cell has what is known as a biconcave shape. Both sides of the cell's surface curve inward like the interior of a sphere. This shape aids in a red blood cell's ability to maneuver through tiny  blood vessels  to deliver oxygen to organs and tissues. Red blood cells are also important in determining human  blood type . Blood type is determined by the presence or absence of certain identifiers on the surface of red blood cells. These identifiers, also called ant...

TYPES OF ANEMIA HELLO OUR BELOVED READERS, WE'RE BACK HERE WITH A INFO PACKED ARTICLE.  Talking about anemia, it is actually a very large scope. as mentioned in the previous articles, anemia is a condition of less numbers or red blood cells or known as hemoglobins in a human's body. this condition is further sub divided into 7 types according to the description of the disease. ps : to refresh the memory........ The Role of Red Blood Cells in Anemia Red blood cells carry hemoglobin, an iron-rich protein that attaches to oxygen in the lungs and carries it to tissues throughout the body. Anemia occurs when you do not have enough red blood cells or when your red blood cells do not function properly. It is diagnosed when a blood test shows a hemoglobin value of less than 13.5 gm/dl in a man or less than 12.0 gm/dl in a woman. Normal values for children vary with age. The types of anemia: 1.   Iron-deficiency anemia  is the most co...
